You must be wondering what's with the first draft.Like what's the BIG deal about it?Everyone, specifically authors, know the easy, effortless scribbled writings in the first draft. So what makes a first draft so important??
Simple!! We have to get started somewhere and that is what I refer to as the first draft.Sounds easy??
It's highly true that we authors want to publish our best work.We are so ambitious and we think we know-it-all when it comes to the first draft.
Oh wow,I have written such a wonderful piece of work and i am hell satisfied.I should instantly publish my work,my novel..I'm pretty sure i'll win a lot of the accolades, etc, etc.
Oh yeah??Well, that's where we authors are such perfectionists, thinking that there is no way we could come up with such crappy or sloppy work.Actually, that's where we debutante, aspiring authors make the first mistake. Now,who is the perfectionist??(laughs out loud)
My favourite from the list in the image (thanks to Copyblogger) is stated in No. 6:
6.It's okay if it reads like a letter from a lunatic.
It's totally normal to make mistakes in the first round of the writing process.Furnishing and honing our skills are the primary aims of the first draft itself so please don't go around cursing yourself or the first draft itself.Take it easy, folks and learn to B-R-E-A-T-H-E!!!
If this post has inspired you in a tiny weeny bit, please continue having faith in yourself and the work that you produce!!!
Remember:Your work is worth your reader's time and believe in your story so intensely that it shakes your readers with much love and passion for your work!!
P.S: If you're interested in knowing more about the latest e-book that I'm currently working on,keep a heads-up for an upcoming sneak preview on the first FREE report of Double Infinity..Coming your way in the upcoming week!!!
